Barcelona Design Week exhibition: ‘Ideas for Humanity: A Cookbook for Planetary Health‘

Ideas for Humanity: A Cookbook for Planetary Health will be on show during Barcelona Design Week from 15 to 30 October at the ROCA Gallery in Barcelona. With ‘recipes’ featuring hacks, coping mechanisms, training exercises, individual stories, collective actions and more, the student work serves up ideas for action to help us make informed decisions for the better of our lives and our planet.

The cookbook is grounded in the premise that the current ecological crisis presents consequences for us all, and as designers we have a responsibility to act, propose, challenge and share.

It was developed as part of an online Global Design Studio with 70 students and eight staff from three different universities – UAL/LCC in the United Kingdom, RMIT University in Australia and Elisava in Spain.

The studio introduced students and staff to transnational and transdisciplinary practices and collaboration, situated in pluralistic and global ways of designing together whilst exploring subject-driven opportunities for online learning.
