The global pandemic has separated us, but it also sharpens our need to connect as creative practitioners and as fellow human beings—especially when our most pressing issues cut across national, cultural and disciplinary boundaries.

In an era of lockdowns and closed borders, how can we build meaningful bridges and grow a sense of community to sustain us, through this current crisis and future ones to come?

Five distinguished international writers share their significant ties, rituals of writerly kinship, and why, in a time of isolation and global mistrust, we must refuse to be silent to one another.
