Everyday Oceans: Surfing, Swimming and Gardening

Explore the intimate and intertwined relationships we hold with the ocean.

To mark World Ocean Day join ORCA members, Rebecca Olive and Fiona Hillary, for an immersive festival of short films highlighting the ordinary and profound impacts that everyday interactions with the ocean can have on our lives, and the responsibility we feel in safeguarding it's future.

This program features exclusive screenings from the Great Southern Reef team, along with captivating short films created by artists and researchers from Australia, Ireland, the UK, and USA. In addition to the films, a panel of experts, including special guest Stefan Andrews, the director of the acclaimed documentary "Gardening Marine Forests" (2023), will explore the connections between human-ocean health and well-being, shedding light on pressing issues impacting our marine ecosystems.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to The Great Southern Reef Foundation.

Presented in partnership with RMIT Culture, RMIT Social & Global Studies Centre, CAST, ORCA and The Great Southern Reef.
