Enrich your course content

Use Open or Library licensed e-resources that can be added to Reading Lists or linked in Canvas via permalinks. Instructions are available in our guide on Finding and linking to Library Resources in Canvas.

Reading Lists are a dynamic and collaborative way of managing and presenting course learning materials in Canvas, making copyright compliance easier. They are an effective and easy way for students to locate and access course learning materials. Find out how to create your own Reading Lists @RMIT.

Your learning and teaching activities at RMIT must be copyright compliant. For advice, go to our Library resources to Canvas guide.

Utilise the Library’s video collections in your course to enhance course engagement. YouTube, Vimeo, and other video sites can be used as long as the material has been placed online by the copyright holder. The guide on Using Videos in Canvas provides instructions on linking and embedding Library videos, including playlists and clips, in your Canvas course and Reading List.

Select Creative Commons sourced images over copyrighted material. Images from published sources must be registered with e-Reserve. The Using Images in Canvas guide provides information on finding, registering and referencing images in your Canvas course, ensuring copyright compliance.

Open Educational Resources are freely accessible and openly licensed teaching and learning materials that can be reused, shared, revised, and remixed. To find open resources by type and by subject use the Open Educational Resources guide.

The Library will ensure prescribed resources are available. Check LibrarySearch before choosing – is it available online? Note: some publishers do not sell e-versions to libraries even if they make e-versions available to individuals. Find out more about Textbook requests.

Students are supported by other students, who have high academic achievement in their course. Assistance includes coursework, study skills, and academic confidence. Email peer.mentoring@rmit.edu.au if you would like to set up peer support in your course.

Check your course navigation menu to ensure the Canvas Library page is enabled. It’s a great starting point for students to access the Library resources and find support.

Make your students aware that expert academic skills advisors and librarians are available to help them with research and writing assignments, referencing and effective study strategies to support maths, statistics, chemistry and physics. Refer them to One-on-one consultations.

Embed or link to the Academic Integrity Awareness Cred and the academic integrity resources on the Learning Lab.

Promote the Easy Cite referencing tool to assist students with their referencing.
