RMIT has ranked 238th in the world in the latest QS World University Rankings released today - an increase of 12 places.

The University has now climbed 53 places since 2014, with this latest ranking reconfirming RMIT’s position in the top 1%* of global universities.

RMIT also ranked 79th globally among universities with more than 30,000 students, 42nd among OECD universities less than 100 years old and 19th for universities under 50 years.

Vice-Chancellor and President Martin Bean CBE said he was delighted that RMIT’s results continued to improve.

“We are committed to working closely with industry, bridging the gap between research and impact and creating transformative experiences for our students,” he said.

“Our positive, improving results show we are delivering on that commitment year after year and helping shape real-world solutions."

While RMIT held its spot at eighth in Australia for employer reputation, it was also ranked 32nd in East Asia and the Pacific and 117th globally.

This latest ranking for employer reputation followed RMIT's strong performance in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings released in September 2018 where RMIT rose to 85th globally and eighth in Australia.

In what was the highest result for the University ever, RMIT also moved up 15 places in academic reputation to 222nd and 11 places in citations per faculty to 444th.

In the recent CWTS Leiden Rankings, one of the most respected research schemas, RMIT ranked 235th on the mean normalised citation score. These latest QS results have reiterated RMIT’s global standing as a leading research-intensive institution, with the University now ranked 44th in the world among very intensive research and comprehensive universities.

RMIT also continued to excel in international appeal, with an international faculty ranking of 39th and an international students ranking of 95th globally.

With 86% of Australian universities included in the QS World University Rankings (35 universities) compared with 5% and 52% of US and UK universities respectively; these rankings continue to highlight RMIT and Victoria as a top destination for a quality university education.
