Jessie participated in the 2019 Global Leader Experience. She writes:

Just the name ‘Global Leader Experience’ alone was enough to capture my attention, so I enrolled in this free program during the semester break. I felt nervous at the start as I didn't know anyone there, but nerves soon became excitement as I learnt about the challenge we'd be solving. Over four days, we'd investigate the question: 'How do we ensure technological innovation delivers societal as well as economic value in cities?'.

I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to meet industry leaders during this program. We visited several businesses leading the way in the tech industry and learnt about how they tackle this global issue. This helped me understand the challenge from a broader perspective. Hearing other students’ takeaways from their industry visits was also eye-opening.

I was also so impressed by my team's great collaboration, ability to generate new ideas and present them creatively under a strict time limit! This has helped me meet like-minded peers and build new friendships.

From this valuable experience, I realised that there are so many ways we can broaden our scope beyond the courses we are studying. This experience has not only given me a new perspective on a range of issues, but also contributed to my career development.

This experience has not only given me a new perspective on a range of issues, but also contributed to my career development.

I hope every student will consider taking part in the Global Leader Experience to challenge themselves and make their learning journey more meaningful.
