Spatial Vision Women in Geospatial Scholarship

For students who identify as a woman enrolling in their first year of geospatial sciences; worth $5,000.

This scholarship provides $5,000 for one year.

An opportunity for paid work, a work integrated learning (WIL) activity or vacation employment may be offered with Spatial Vision at the end of the scholarship year.

One scholarship available.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • identify as a woman
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or a permanent humanitarian visa holder
  • be enrolling full-time in your first year in semester 1 and 2 2024 in the Bachelor of Science (BP350), majoring in Geospatial Science
  • have completed Year 12 (or equivalent) in 2022 or 2023 with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of at least 65
  • be able to demonstrate interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • be available for an interview if shortlisted*, if an interview is required as part of the selection process

Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • demonstrate circumstance/s which impact your ability to study such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • having a long-term medical condition or disability
    • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties
    • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state
    • be from an under-represented background such as
      • were born overseas, are from a non-English background and recently migrated to Australia
      • current or former refugee
      • completed secondary school at a School Network Access Program school

It is expected that the online application will take approximately thirty minutes to complete. The main application questions are listed below to allow you time to prepare your answers prior to starting the online application.

  • What are your future plans and career aspirations?
  • What current challenges do you face in your studies and how will a scholarship help you to overcome this?
  • Describe your interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to participate in an interview, chaired by relevant RMIT staff and attended by representatives from Spatial Vision.

Scholarship recipients may be offered an opportunity to participate in a paid work experience placement or vacation employment with Spatial Vision at the end of the completed scholarship year.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

Only successful candidates will be notified via email to their RMIT student account.
