Inter-location exchange: SIM to RMIT Melbourne

Singapore Institute of Management (SIM) students have the opportunity to study one semester at RMIT Melbourne as an inter-location exchange student.

Inter-location exchange is the recommended global experience for SIM students seeking to take core modules in a different location. It is a fantastic opportunity to study overseas in Australia and immerse yourself in a new culture.

RMIT Melbourne and Vietnam students are also able to undertake exchange to SIM.

Eligibility

Places are limited and are awarded based on academic merit.

To be eligible you must:

  • be in your final year, as per SIM requirement

  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (out of 4.0), or 60% average.

  • be enrolled in one of the following RMIT University programs:

    • BP254 Bachelor of Business (Accountancy)

    • BP251 Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance)

    • BP255 Bachelor of Business (Logistics & Supply Chain Management)

    • BP217 Bachelor of Business (Management)

    • BP252 Bachelor of Business (Marketing)

How to apply

Submit your Expression of Interest by:     

  • 30 August to study in Melbourne Semester 1
  • 1 March to study in Melbourne Semester 2
     

You will need to include your current GPA. To calculate  your GPA, log in to myRMIT and select the 'Enrolment online' link. Select the 'My student record' button and under 'Enrolment details' select 'View academic history/results'.

  1. RMIT Melbourne will email the most eligible applicants instructions on how to submit an online application.  
  2. If your application is successful, we will email you an offer letter.
  3. Accept your offer and pay for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). OSHC is an Australian immigration requirement for students on a student visa.
  4. Once RMIT has received your offer we will email you an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE) document. You will need this to apply for a student visa.
  5. Apply for a student visa with the eCOE.  For more information, refer to the Student visas and Australian Immigration websites.
  6. Plan your arrival. Visit the Moving to Melbourne section of the RMIT students site where you will find information on accommodation, arranging an airport pick up and other helpful topics.
  7. Enrol online. We will provide you with instructions on how to enrol in your courses at RMIT Melbourne closer to your start date.
  8. Attend the RMIT Global Experience Orientation at the beginning of the semester.

Semester 1

  • Information session at SIM: end July – early August

  • Expression of interest deadline: 30 August

  • Invitation to apply online sent: mid September

  • Official offers sent: early October

  • eCOE sent: up to 3 weeks from correctly receiving your acceptance

  • Global Experience Orientation (compulsory attendance): Mid February (the exact date will be advised in your offer)

Semester 2

  • Information session at SIM: end January – mid February

  • Expression of interest deadline: 1 March

  • Invitation to apply online sent: mid March

  • Official offers sent: early April

  • eCOE sent: up to 3 weeks from correctly receiving your acceptance

  • Global Experience Orientation (compulsory attendance): Mid July (the exact date will be advised in your offer)
