2022 ESAANZ Conference, Call for Papers: The European Union in the Age of Global Turbulence

The European Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand (ESAANZ) invites panel and paper proposals for the 2022 conference.

The European Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand (ESAANZ) invites panel and paper proposals for the 2022 conference in a hybrid format at the RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia on 24 November 2022. The event will be hosted by the European Union Centre for Excellence (RMIT).

Conference theme: The European Union in the age of global turbulence

Turbulence is characterised by currents and counter-currents, chaos, instability and agitation. Over the past decade we have experienced turbulence globally in all spheres of politics, society and economics. The European Union (EU) has been at the centre of this with the financial crisis, the refugee crisis, the threats from the far right and from populist leaders to the democratic order. Now war is on its doorstep as Russia invades Ukraine. And yet Europe continues to formulate the most progressive and ambitious responses to current world disorder, including climate change and sustainable energy and food solutions. The ESAANZ 2022 conference organizers invite papers across the broad spectrum of disciplines relating to Europe in these turbulent times.
