Luke works for the Australian Government Department of Industry and Science under its Chief Economist Mark Cully.
Innovation Research at Department of Industry and Science
Luke has worked in the Department since 2007. Prior to that he was a research scientist working the field of plant eco-physiology and holds a PhD from Australian National University. Luke now leads the Australian Government’s innovation research program and is responsible for delivering the Government’s annual Australian Innovation System Report which is now in its fifth year. Luke’s general interests are in the areas of productivity and competitiveness and how the performance of the innovation system drives these outcomes across all sectors of the economy. Luke also has a particular interest in the economics of complexity, behavioural- and evolutionary-economics and business eco-innovation.
Luke’s presentation will draw together a wealth of information from successive innovation system reports to outline a narrative about the importance of business-research collaboration in Australia.
