This event is presented by RMIT Gallery as part of the exhibition Melbourne, Music and Me
Garry Spry has been involved in operating and owning 13 clubs over 40 years , including Australia's first nightclub Pinocchio's, The Distillery, Babes Discotheque, Billboard in Concert, Silvers Nightclub, The Ivy, The Zoo, and The Havana Club. Mr Spry has managed Australian bands here and overseas. Dr Horn will chat to Mr Spry and Mr Madigan about how the live music scene and venues have changed over the past 40 years – for the bands, promoters and the punters.
Graham Madigan has travelled across the world as a key member of many an artist’s touring entourage. He was the original roadie for Daddy Cool, he travelled overseas on tour with them to the USA & Europe. He also worked for Little River Band when they first went to the states on tour and travelled with them for years. Scrooge was also an international tour manager for the Dainty Corporation and took care of many international artists tour dates across Australia. Scrooge has constantly worked in the industry and now bases himself in Melbourne working for a tour production company. This will be a rock venue conversation like no other.
