As part of the Peter Corrigan: Cities of Hope exhibition (closes 8 June), this final public program event will be a lively discussion between Justin Clemens and Michael Kantor.
Justin Clemens will explore the secret cultural history of Melbourne through Corrigan's work and influence, and Michael Kantor, who has worked with Corrigan on a number of important theatre productions, and will speak about Corrigan’s “poor theatre” aesthetic that is particularly well-suited to the realities of making theatre in Australia.
Writer Justin Clemens and theatre director Michael Kantor will lead audiences on a journey into many of the ideas behind this expansive exhibition as they discuss Corrigan's “local not global” approach to design. Renowned for his architectural practice and stage design, Corrigan is a Melbourne identity who has championed the suburban aesthetic.
