Professor Chattopadhyay will discuss how cholesterol in the membrane is needed for ligand binding and G protein coupling of serotonin receptors.
Professor Chattopadhyay’s research into the molecular nature of receptor–cholesterol interaction will increase his research team's understanding of cholesterol binding sites in, and oligomerisation of, the receptor. This will ultimately help to improve the team's understanding of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) function in health and disease.
Professor Chattopadhyay is Outstanding Scientist (Director Level) at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology in Hyderabad, India. His work focuses on monitoring biological membrane organisation, dynamics and function in health and disease.
