Evan Jones presents 'Selling your Story: Commercializing Research in the Humanities & Social Sciences'
About the event
Researchers everywhere are hearing the drum beat of commercialization - the new mantra is 'apply or die'. STEM research seems easily applied in commercial projects, but what about the Humanities and Social Sciences? Is there any way to create the coveted 'private-public partnership'?
In this presentation and discussion, Evan Jones will be looking at this issue from the other side - as an Canadian entrepreneur spearheading five commercial products with five different Canadian universities. Together they span psychology, healthcare, media studies, library sciences and literature.
By analyzing these as case studies, Evan will demonstrate how these projects were conceived, how partnerships are structured and how these projects will benefit his company and each research team. Attendees will gain insight into the mindset of commercialization and how to maintain your academic integrity amidst market realities.
