Power to the People! exhibition opening panel discussion with Julio Falagán, Antonio Castillo and Ciro Márquez.
Join us for a conversation about the media, citizen journalism and popular culture as we celebrate the opening of Power To The People! an exhibition by Spanish artist Julio Falagán who will be in Melbourne for the exhibition.
Please join the panel for churros after the talk and be amongst the first to press the photocopier and print your own Falagán poster. The artist's work invites viewers to join a game of concepts which reflect on popular art, questioning the importance of the original, the serialized work, and the structure of the contemporary art market.
The event will be followed from 6-8 pm by the official opening of the exhibition by Mr César Espada, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Spain in Canberra.
- Julio Falagán says "My work revolves around the question of power and is established through the use of humor and irony."
- Antonio Castillo, PhD, is a Latin American journalist and a Senior Journalism Lecturer at RMIT University. He is the Convenor of Latin American Research@ RMIT.
- Ciro Márquez is a lecturer at Deakin University and part of the Madrid-based artist collective mmmm…
