With innovation and entrepreneurship now a firm focus on the governments agenda we break open the topic to celebrate the value of Intellectual Property in Australia.
To celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2016, The Master of Fashion (Entrepreneurship) program is co-hosting an event with Strategy Vital and Gareth Benson Intellectual Property Lawyers & Associate to celebrate the theme of Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined with a panelist of creatives and entrepreneurs alike @ RMIT Design Hub.
Included will be representatives of Melbourne and Australia ideas economy who are passionately creating business of the future of ideas, to create a world of culture reimagined through intellectual property #IdeasBoom.
Including the shared ideas of: Gareth Benson: A qualified Intellectual Property lawyer, Gareth has worked for some of Australia's leading innovation and creative organisations including CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientic Industrial Research Organisation) and SBS Television - Commissioned Content and Online. For the previous five years he has also succesfully run a digital content agency producing online and short films, sharing the stories of Australians and their ideas.
Lena Fishman: A passionate entrepreneur in her own right, Lena runs a successful boutique fashion distribution company named The Detail. Previously working for her family’s 35 year old Australia Made business, UGG Australia she was pivotal in the promotion of one of Australia's most recognised iconic fashion items – ‘The Ugg Boot’ and played an instrumental role in the defence and securing of their trademark UGG Australia when an international company invaded Australian shores to stop the use of the generic term UGG. The case is now an influential precedent part of Australian Trade Mark law.
Richie Meldrum: Richie is a creative director for Yoke specialising in branding, UX/UI strategy and content creation. An English literature graduate and lover of words, for many years he worked as a copywriter, carefully crafting compelling compositions and abusing alliteration as often as he could.He sidelines in journalism, writing and presenting on media, culture, arts and entertainment for mUmBrella, Campaign Brief, The Vine, Broadsheet, Desktop, The List, Beat, Inpress Magazine and more.
Lauren Rielly: is a Melbourne-born, global entrepreneur who delivers new opportunity to communities through events and talent publicity. She works with evolutionary entrepreneurs, crafting media, deal and funding campaigns that take them to the world stage.
Bill Sayers: Bill is a innovative entrepreneur and artist, who at the age of 51 found a local design studio making digital artwork printed on canvas print. His specialised approach uses digital art to transform living and working spaces, with innovative abstract designs. He has sold over 1 million dollars of Art work in over 15 years, and has succesfully commercialised his intellectual property to create a business which reimagines culture through his digital creativity.
