About Giro Maurici
A graduate of University of Melbourne, Giro Maurici worked at AXA, AMP and Henderson Global Investors in London before completing a full time MBA in Rotterdam and New York.
After completing his studies, Giro decided to travel with his partner Kelly and it was here that the idea for San Churro was born; with the discovery of a late night chocolateria in Madrid following a night of partying. Though many ideas would come to them over the course of their travels, they never forgot their love of Madrid’s chocolaterias.
Fast forward ten years and San Churro is now Australia's most prolific dessert café business boasting over 50 outlets, 1200 staff and annual turnover of $60m.
An ethical business, San Churro sources all it’s coffee and cocoa from Fairtrade programs as well as working with Beyond Blue to raise funds and awareness for its activities.
When Giro isn’t dreaming about new store designs, IT systems or product ideas, he can likely be found training for his first marathon, making wood fired pizzas at home with his family or eating chocolate desserts at restaurants across the nation!
