Professor David Allen presents "Mobile technology, mobile data and the police: lesson from the UK".
This presentation will focus on David’s work on mobile technology and the police spanning over ten years in the UK. The UK has been one of the world leaders in the adoption of mobile technology to support frontline police officers. The topic is relevant given recent push in Australia to harness the opportunities afforded by mobile technology in frontline policing. His presentation will focus on the benefits and key challenges in developing a mobile technology strategy and the political and organisational issues surrounding large scale mobile technology deployment. He will also discuss how mobile technology transforms policing work. The research is also relevant to other forms of mobile workers.
