Museums Victoria and the Federation Handbells in association with SIAL Sound Studios at RMIT University presents a public lecture on bells, art and the cultural necessity of sound sculpture.
Anton Hasell will present an in-depth lecture on making resonant artworks.
His story starts with the early commission of a bell commemorating the life of writer Tilly Aston, through casting the Federation Bells carillon and handbells, to the 10,000 year clock installed in the heart of a mountain in Texas, a project of the Long Now Foundation.
Anton was awarded an ANAT Synapse-CSIRO residency to work in Lab 22 (3D Printing Structures) testing new methods of bell production and analysing the frequency array of test casting and direct metal prints.
Anton is an Adjunct Professor at RMIT University’s SIAL Sound Studios.
