Dr Gillian Vesty is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Accounting at RMIT University.

Gillian will be a panelist in the Colloquium panel session discussing researchers' hands-on experience collecting data in the field. She will be contributing reflections from her personal experiences
Her teaching and research interests largely comprise management accounting, performance measurement and control. Having completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne, Gillian is particularly concerned with the sociology of accounting, sustainability and accountability in the public healthcare setting. Her research interests draw on a 20-yr background in the public healthcare sector. This experience included the management of an oncology unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital; Infection Control Officer with a focus on hospital accreditation. She has also worked as a National Vocational Assessor for Advantage Health Care Group in the UK. Before commencing her undergraduate degree in Accounting, Gillian worked as a product manager for Kendall McGaw, a US Fortune 500 healthcare organisation, owned by Colgate-Palmolive. She is co-author of a management accounting textbook and has taught accounting at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
