Join us for the official launch celebration of RMIT's new Centre for Education, Training and Work in the Asian Century.
The Centre for Education, Training and Work in the Asian Century critically engages with debates about what the development of an Asian century means for education, training and work.
Understandings of education, training and work; childhood, youth and young adulthood; relationships and family structures; culture, politics and the economy; development, migration and strategic relations, are remade in the context of the Asian century. The Centre contributes to debates about how the human experience of these developments is marked by growth, development and opportunities, by crisis, marginalisation and exploitation.
The Centre will be launched by RMIT’s College of Design and Social Context Pro Vice-Chancellor and RMIT Vice-President, Professor Paul Gough. The Centre launch will precede the first of the public lecture series, Young People, Education and Social Justice in the Asian Century (see lecture series program). For this inaugural public lecture, Ms Lois Peeler AM, Executive Director of Worawa Aboriginal College, will present a lecture titled Social Justice and Aboriginal Young People: Looking to the Past to Inform the Future.
