Narrating the ordinary (the ordinary narrative).
RMIT Adjunct Professor (Creative Writing) Sophie Cunningham, a respected writer, editor and publisher is the guest speaker for the fifth seminar in this series.
In this talk, Sophie will consider the threads that exist between seemingly disparate and repetitive events and how a writer might seek to spin a narrative out of the everyday.
She will discuss her current projects as well as looking at authors, historical and contemporary, who have a knack for making the ordinary extraordinary.
Sophie is the author of two novels, Geography (2004) and Bird (2008) and two nonfiction works, Melbourne (UNSW Press, 2011) and Warning: The Story of Cyclone Tracy (2014).
