Screening and Q&A of a new independent Australian film: The Weatherman's Umbrella-maverick low budget filmmaking.
The Weatherman’s Umbrella was made on a micro-budget with the Marysville area community, showcasing many locals as actors and crew, as well as fabulous music and artwork from the area. It was made with the belief that art can play a part in recovery, and the hope that it may also help tourism in the area.
The Weatherman’s Umbrella was shot from February 2014 to June 2015 on weekends and was inspired by the characters in Bruno’s Sculpture Garden (www.brunosart.com). Although destroyed in the Black Saturday fires, the garden is now flourishing and is a central feature of the town’s tourism industry.
