Waste plastics in our oceans now cover an area the size of France. Marine environments have become dangerously degraded and microplastics are now entering the human food chain with unknown short-term and long-term effects on health.

A multi-disciplinary Congress bringing together scientists, community advocates, policymakers and business exploring the three themes:
- Understanding the Problem - The current state of knowledge on the scale of the problem and its impacts;
- Managing the Problem - What has worked to stop waste plastic from reaching the oceans and to clean up what's already there; and
- Solving the Problem - Innovation: new products, new processes and changing consumer behaviour; government policy; encouraging innovation and regulation
Callings for abstracts from scientists, community advocates, policy makers and business and for attendees
