Disciplinary perspectives, like language barriers, can limit the conversion of significant research into outcomes with wider relevance.
Too often, research is constrained by the terminology, perspectives and methods of the researcher’s discipline. Connecting with researchers from other fields can bring misunderstandings and mistranslations, sometimes achieving unexpected results.
The first Turn event for 2015 investigates unusual research partnerships that transcend disciplinary perspectives to yield outcomes with wider relevance and impact.
Guest conversationalists will share their experiences of successful research partnerships. We will then turn the tables to ask:
- What are the barriers to creating partnerships within or beyond your discipline?
- What would help you connect with other researchers to translate your research into impactful outcomes?
Gather for shared lunch (that contains a mistranslation of its own) and engaging conversation at the fourth event in the popular Turn series.
