Behavioural Business Lab Showcase: Designing Multi-Sensory Stimuli for Experiments in Design & Business (in collaboration Delft University of Technology)
The EFM Behavioural Business Lab warmly invites you to attend an interactive workshop on designing multi-sensory stimuli for experiments in design and business offered by Mr Ruben Post from Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.
To improve the consumer’s product experience it is fundamental to understand how product design features (e.g. the shape, colour and material) influence them. A large part of this experience is how consumers perceive and aesthetically appreciate the product through these design features. In an interactive workshop I will demonstrate how I have experimentally investigated visual and tactile aesthetic appreciation of product designs using modern rendering and 3D-printing techniques. The controlled yet realistic product designs used in the experiments, in which changes in shape and material are systematically manipulated, increases our scientific understanding of what underlies multi-sensory aesthetic appreciation and develops practical knowledge for designing beautiful products.
About the speaker
Ruben Post is a PhD student at the Industrial Design Engineering department of the Delft University of Technology with a background in Cognitive Neuroscience and Product Design. His research is part of a collaborative and international research program that aims to develop a Unified Model of Aesthetics.
