Our aim is to ‘de-mystify’ design that is often perceived as an elitist, aesthetic object / technology-oriented discipline, or, as a field that attempts to provide resolutions, or ‘sell more stuff’.
Our proposal brings together various practitioners and researchers who belong to Design for Social Innovation and Sustainability (DESIS) Lab Melbourne to showcase their work, and convene an interactive workshop to specifically examine methods in design for social innovation.
By methods, I mean tools, approaches, theory and artefacts that help facilitate ways in which people can participate in collective problem-solving.
The workshop format will assist in knowledge sharing and generation, enabling the participants to gain understanding of methods by hands-on-learning, thereby further facilitating the impact of this event.
