Activator’s pre-accelerator program is back to support a cohort of dedicated founders as they progress towards finding the right customers and industry partners in order to achieve market-orientated goals.

Furthermore, we have condensed our LaunchHUB program into an all-new 6-week sprint and end the year 2020 on a guaranteed high.

What does the learning commitment look like? 

Our lead program coach facilitates weekly accountability stand-ups to understand your goals and objectives for the week in a quick catch-up session.

Learn the tools and tips from startup experts on how to work towards achieving product-market fit. Each week, we’ll bring up different key learnings to achieve. Here are the key success metrics you can expect to takeaway by the end of the program:

  • Develop an understanding of your customer
  • Clearly define and test a value proposition
  • Determine the size, attractiveness and depth of the market
  • Develop a proof of concept, prototype and/or MVPs
  • Begin to formulate a viable business model that can achieve sustainable impact

A panel of experts to provide you with guidance and perspectives to tap into leading research insights and industry perspectives which aim to focus your solution on the most promising market opportunity.

Weekly session to keep you on track and get customised advise from your preferred coach.

Application Process

Key selection criteria - required

  1. At least one full-time equivalent across founders committed to the program over the 6 weeks period.
  2. An understanding of market opportunity attractiveness (measured through the articulation of market size, trends, existing business models, total addressable market)
  3. Identifiable problem and solution (clearly defined problem statement and a well- thought out solution to address the problem)
  4. Early customer validation (evidence of early testing with real customers and users, with feedback and insights)
  5. A driven and purposeful team (commentary on the reason for taking this path, and why they’re driven by the problem to be solved)

Key selection criteria - highly valued

  1. Commercial experience and acumen
  2. Demonstrated technical capability
  3. Startup ecosystem validation
  4. Funding, partnerships and participation in other programs
  5. Technical advantage (patent, exceptional talent, IP, trade security)
  6. Business advantage (access to market, knowledge of the market)
  7. A coachable and collaborative leadership team

  • Demonstrate a working MVP
  • Can work part or full-time from the CBD co-working space
  • Commitment to key program activities including weekly stand-ups every Monday at 10am– 11:30am

The team at Activator has fully shifted LaunchHUB program to virtual delivery.

The program has worked hard to maintain a strong sense of community and has introduced new elements enabled by selected technology stack. As restrictions scale back in the coming weeks, we will operate in line with the university’s approach as per government guidelines and will cautiously introduce relevant face-to-face offerings while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

Yes. Not only we are trying to focus on 2 impactful themes for this cohort, we’re also conscious that founders across Victoria are in need of support to thrive in the current environment so we’ve opened up this opportunity to all, even if you are not affiliated with RMIT.

Don’t worry, we won’t be doing this forever! Simply express your interest to join our next intake in 2021.

This program is free! The university is committed to developing an entrepreneurial culture and supporting enterprise development amongst the Activator community.

Selected teams are expected to dedicate at least 8-10 hours per week to program participation. Founders get the most value from the program through active participation on other sessions as well, such as attending weekly catchups with the coaches, workshops, and community events. We will be sharing the full program calendar once you are successful with your application so you can safely book the time on your own calendar.

RMIT Activator does NOT claim any IP rights in respect of idea or startup. However, RMIT staff applying for LaunchHUB need to consult with RMIT Research and Innovation given that RMIT has ownership of intellectual property created by staff members in the course of their employment.

LaunchHUB in itself is an investment from the university that is worth $218,000 in support and resources so we will not be offering cash funding. Furthermore, RMIT Activator is a significant contributor for many Victorians accelerator programs such as Startmate, Skalata, SBE E3, ASTN, Medtech Actuator, Startupbootcamp and Antler. We are also more than happy to help with our knowledge and network when you identified other funding opportunities.
