Celebrating Startup Success

Celebrating Startup Success

Nelson Mandela once said: “Remember to celebrate milestones as you prepare for the road ahead”. His words resonated strongly with everyone at RMIT Activator’s Startup Celebration Night, where we revelled in the progress and achievements of the startup founders within our Activator community.

Held at the newly renovated Oxford Scholar Hotel, the celebration also commemorated the end of our latest 12-week LaunchHUB intensive which saw the successful graduation of 10 teams.

The event kicked off with a keynote speech from Rod Hamilton, founder of Culture Amp. He shared about his startup story, failures and offered advice to founders which included knowing how to say no.

10 of our LaunchHUB and Activator teams gave short presentations on their exciting businesses and achievements during their time at Activator. These earlier and later-stage startups include Repairy, Enable Me, AI Professionals, Requin, Beyond Keep Cups, Treiner, Airbooth, Trunked, HospoHire and Voop.

We were also elated to have our alumni, RMIT University staff, Capital Fund Board directors, family and friends join us in celebration.

“I’m so proud of all the achievements of our startup community and it’s been an inspiring experience getting to know all the founders,” said Paz Pisarski, the Startup Program Coordinator at RMIT Activator. “No doubt they will continue to achieve great things.”

Julie Stevens, the Head of Startup Program and Partnerships at RMIT Activator, was just as enthused about the achievements of our startup community.

“Over and above the talented teams sharing about their startup projects, the occasion was a celebration of the breadth of people who have become our champions and supporters,” she said.

“Having alumni, program partners, and friends from across the university pack a room and enjoy a great night, was a sign that Activator has become a true community.”

We aim to host another celebration event mid-October at the end of our next LaunchHUB program.

The next (our fifth and counting) LaunchHUB intensive begins 22 July this year.

RMIT Activator also inducts earlier-stage startups into our community at the beginning of every month.

If you’re curious about entrepreneurship or want to start your own business, Activator Rise is for you. Rise gives you member-only access to the Activator community and a personalised online platform that will allow you to thrive.
