RMIT invites recruiters each semester from a wide range of organisations to conduct generic mock interviews with students.
RMIT Careers and Employability invites recruiters to volunteer to offer students one-to-one generic competency-style mock interviews on campus, which are not specific to any firm or sector.
Most interviewers come for a full day and conduct six to seven interviews between 11am and 3pm, with a break for a catered lunch. However, we can be flexible about start and end times, and if you are only able to offer half a day we would still like to hear from you.
This activity has been very popular with students, and, indeed, with the employers who have taken part. In all cases, you will be given the students Resume at the beginning of the day. Each interview should last about 20 minutes, followed immediately by feedback.
We invite students to bring in a memory stick if they would like a video file of the interview for later review: the camera is focussed on the student rather than the interviewer. We provide a laptop for the interviewee’s performance to be recorded.
Session dates and times
Mock Interviews are held during teaching periods. We offer a selection of dates during the semester, on a first-come, first-served basis.
You will be met at the beginning of the day by a member of our Careers and Employability team. Interviews are normally scheduled to begin at 11am, and thereafter at 45 minute intervals with a coffee/tea and lunch break. Each 45-minute session includes time for both the interview and for feedback.
We will provide you with a complimentary lunch, plus tea and coffee throughout the day.
How to book
To book and participate in a Mock Interview please follow the steps below:
- Log in or register for CareerHub and complete the Career Skills Session booking form in the left-hand menu.
- A RMIT staff member will email you confirming details within 3-5 business days.
- Host your Career Skills Session on campus and recruit our students.
N.B. There are a strictly limited number of Mock Interviews available each semester and organisations are required to book well in advance. All bookings are subject to review and approval by the University.
Terms and conditions
Bookings need to be made a minimum of 10 working days before the interview date.
We recommended you book up to a month in advance to secure your spot. This free service is subject to availability and at RMIT’s discretion.
