BUILDING
Building 3 (Kernot Building)
Built as the Kernot Engineering School for the Working Men’s College’s in 1931, refurbishments have transformed the building, which now features a double-layered glass curtain wall.
The building is named after the engineering brothers William Charles Kernot, president of the Working Men’s College 1889-1899 and the University of Melbourne’s first engineering professor, and Wilfred Noyce Kernot, the 1920 college president.
It was built in the classical revival style to blend with its Building 2 neighbour. The striking glass wall was added in 2011 and wraps to the back of the building to provide shelter and sun control on its east side.
