Photography studio renovation time lapse | RMIT University
VISUAL: In centre of the screen on a white background: RMIT University logo.
VISUAL: At bottom of screen title reads: Media and Communication, Building 94 Photography Studios Refurbishment.
VISUAL: The foundations of Photography Studio in Building 94 at RMIT – concrete ceiling, concrete floor and bare walls. A roof supportive pole is to the left of centre of screen. The framework for a room within the studio space is to the right of screen and runs to the back of the large studio space. Time lapse video of builders standing on ladders and scaffolding platforms and lining the walls and then the ceiling of the studio with sheeting panels.
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. Builders are continuing to place ceiling panels and also hanging air conditioning ducts from the ceiling. The room that was framed within the studio is now closed in by placing dry wall around the frame.
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. Electricians are installing the wiring using ladders all around the room’s ceiling. The empty boxes from all the new parts being installed are mounting up in a pile on the floor to the left of the screen/studio.
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. The empty boxes are removed. Camera shift ever so slightly to the left so now you can see the wall and double entrance doors to the left of the screen (ie at the side of the room). Electricians continue to work installing cable into the roof.
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. Four different sized timber curved frames are sitting in the foreground. Workmen continue to stand on ladders at various points in the room and work on electrics in the ceiling; lots of electric cables are hanging from the ceiling as a single strip and also in neat loops like a lasso.
VISUAL: Continuation of the time lapse video. The workmen place the curved timber frames in the far left corner of the studio and are used to form the foundation for the curved wall used in the photography studio. Dry wall sheets are placed over the timber frames. A black curtain track is hung down the centre of the room, slightly diagonal to the camera. The hanging wires are gradually removed, only a few strips hang down now.
VISUAL: Continuation of the time lapse video. The walls and ceiling to the room have been painted white and black curtain tracks are on the ceiling. The concrete floor has been polished to a marble effect. There is one wheelie bin and one ladder in the room at the commencement of this section of the time lapse video. Workmen measure out rectangle sheeting by lying it on to of a work trolley and the wheelie bin. A heavy duty vacuum cleaner is at the bottom left of the screen. A rectangle sheet coloured yellow is about the size of a door and is now leaning up against the roof support pole in the centre of the room. (not sure where yellow door is placed but somewhere off?screen).
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. A few workmen are standing together in the centre of the room by the roof support pole. Twenty or so black and steel student chairs are at the far end of the room in a corner. A circular saw bench is set up at the front right of the room to cut strips of timber. More black curtain tracks are placed on the floor by workmen and then workmen move the black curtain tracks to the ceiling at the back right corner of the room.
VISUAL: Continuation of time lapse video. Piles of chairs, metal filing cabinets, boxes, studio gear fill the front half of the studio area. In the background, at the far end of the studio, workman are hanging black curtains from the black curtain tracks. Gradually some of the stock and office furniture at the front of the studio close to the camera is removed.
VISUAL: Photograph - camera has moved location but still in the studio. The studio space is virtually empty and work is now finished. The colour scheme is all white walls and ceiling with black curtains, curtain tracks and all black metal on the photography stands. The polished concrete floor looks very shiny. Most of the black curtains are closed by being pulled across the curtain tracks to divide up the studio into individual spaces when the curtains are drawn. The far wall has a row of windows letting in natural light. A few black chairs are placed along the wall beside each curtain.
VISUAL: Photograph – camera in same location as before but now the black curtains have been opened and bunched at the end of each of the curtain tracks for the individual spaces within the studio. The three black chairs are more visible now that the curtains have been opened/bunched at the end of each track.
VISUAL: Video as camera pans from left to right across the curved white wall in the corner of the studio.
VISUAL: Video as camera pans from left to right across a section of the studio with photography equipment stands in it. The colour scheme is all white walls and ceiling with black curtains, curtain tracks and all black metal on the photography stands. The polished concrete floor looks very shiny.
VISUAL: Video close up of the photography equipment in the corner of the studio (as seen in last video pan). The camera does a slow pivot of a few degrees from right to left.
VISUAL: Video time lapse as camera slowly pivots a few degrees from right to left. To the right of the screen is a corridor from the studio with a shelving unit along the right wall of the corridor. The shelving unit is floor to ceiling height with six shelves evenly placed and are filled with milk crates, vases, timber boxes and rolls of paper. At the end of the corridor are two more black curtains separating the studio areas beyond. To the left of the screen beside this corridor is a window and beyond the window you can see into a room on the other side of the building which has its blind rolled up - a couple of people are moving in time lapse speed.
VISUAL: Video of studio. Roof support pole as seen earlier is in the centre of the screen. The curved white wall is to the right of the screen. The white rooms are sparsely decorated with the black curtains, photography equipment and a chair in each curtained section of the studio. The camera does a slow pivot of a few degrees from right to left.
VISUAL: Video as camera pans from left to right across the finished studio. At the far end of the room is the wall of windows and the corridor with the shelving against the wall and then to the photography equipment in the far right corner and stops at the curved white wall to the right of the screen and room. The roof support column moves slowly across the centre of the room as the camera pans. The black curtains are pulled back against the wall at the end of the tracks of each sectioned part of the studio and a black chair is placed against the wall near each opened black curtain. There are about 11 sectioned curtain parts of the studio. Screen fades to black.
VISUAL: In the centre of the screen on a white background is the RMIT University logo.
VISUAL: In the centre of the screen on a black background is the Bison United logo which is a white capital B with a pair of bison horns coming out and up from either side of the B and a pink full?stop after the B.
VISUAL: In the centre of the screen on a black background text reads: BISONUNITED. Bison is written in white and United is written in pink.
