VISUAL: Centred on screen on a white background: 2015 RMIT Career Advisers’ Seminar. Centred at the bottom of the screen: RMIT University logo.
VISUAL: Photograph of the façade of RMIT’s Info Corner building and Storey Hall. The camera is looking up at the red brick, windows and leaf print panels on the façades and the ‘green brain’ awning is at the bottom of the screen in the foreground. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Clare Borg, Aitken College.
VISUAL: Clare Borg speaking, side on to the camera.
Clare Borg: One of the huge benefits, I think, is the ability to, first of all, meet the RMIT staff that help us. So we couldn’t do our jobs as career counsellors if we didn’t have people like Mark and his team to support us. We can ring them, we can email them and they can get the answers to our questions pretty quickly and to, actually, see them in person, I think, adds to the relationship rather than just dealing with them over the telephone or via email to, actually, meet with them and to chat with them and get to know them a bit better is gold.
VISUAL: Photograph of a section of the jagged green window frame façade of RMIT’s Story Hall. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Rob Hulls, Centre for Innovative Justice.
VISUAL: Rob Hulls standing behind a lectern on stage during the seminar and speaking to the audience which is off screen. The camera is situated above and is looking down on him.
Rob Hulls: What we offer, here, at RMIT, particularly through the Centre for Innovative Justice, is opportunities for students from a whole range of courses to get involved in a holistic justice approach. And it, as I said, it’s not just law students; it’s students from a whole range of disciplines and we think we give them the best opportunity to realise the options that are out there as far as their future career paths are concerned. Now, some of the stuff we do, the students get marked on it; the Innovative Justice Study Tour, for instance, is an elective part of their curriculum but the other stuff we offer students, those short, sharp taster programs with Chief Judge of the County Court, with barristers, High Court opportunities, 16 students to the Court of Appeal last year. They don’t get marked on it, we just ask them to write in a hundred words or less why they should be the student chosen and we pick relevantly appropriate students to take on those taster programs. And the feedback we’re getting is quite extraordinary. We also make short, sharp videos for students where I interview someone in the legal profession: about what makes a good CV for a student; why a student should consider a career in human rights law, for instance; I’m interviewing Jon Faine next week about whether or not a legal career assists you in the media.

Lexia Knight: What’s going on in business in the different types of business and particularly, the industry links that RMIT has with both national and international businesses.
VISUAL: Photograph of a section of façade of RMIT’s Storey Hall. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Matthew Forte, Studying Marketing at RMIT.
VISUAL: Matthew Forte standing on stage holding a microphone in his right hand and speaking to the audience which is off screen.
Matthew Forte: I do believe that, yeah, the course trains you to think strategically and for me, that’s really important ...
VISUAL: Matthew Forte speaking to the audience which is off screen, camera is now further away looking down on the stage. Matthew is holding the microphone still and the lectern is to the bottom right of screen.
Matthew Forte: ... and I’ll touch on that again but there’s world class facilities and faculty that are experts, they’re well respected industry figures ...
VISUAL: Matthew Forte, side on to the camera, speaking to the audience which is off screen. At the end the screen fades to black.
Matthew Forte: ... and I think it gives you confidence in yourself to be who you want to be to develop your skills. And obviously, the last thing is the industry based learning element which I think is fantastic.
VISUAL: Photograph of the façade of RMIT’s Info Corner building and Storey Hall. The camera is looking up at the façade and the ‘green brain’ awning is at the bottom of the screen in the foreground. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Alice Wu Tollis, Bacchus Marsh Grammar.
VISUAL: Alice Wu Tollis speaking, side on to the camera and smiling at the end.
Alice Wu Tollis: And I guess, today, I’ve really enjoyed the dynamics of having really different speakers and also graduate speakers, so that’s been good.
VISUAL: Photograph of the RMIT’s Swanston Academic Building. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Nasir Ali, RMIT’s pathways and levels of study.
VISUAL: Nasir Ali, standing on stage and holding a microphone, speaking to audience which is off screen.
Nasir Ali: Currently, I’m studying the Chartered Accountancy program. So in some way you can say that, you know ...
VISUAL: Camera has moved location and is now further away and looking down at Nasir Ali standing on stage and holding a microphone and speaking to the audience which is off screen.
Nasir Ali: ... after I do my Masters and hopefully PhD, I’ve done everything (chuckling) RMIT is offering. I started with a Diploma ...
VISUAL: Nasir Ali, standing on stage and holding a microphone, speaking on stage to the audience which is off screen – this is the same camera angle as before.
Nasir Ali: ... Advanced Diploma, Bachelor and now CA, so yeah, hope it doesn’t go to the PhD level but yeah, Masters should be fine.

Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Lexia Knight, Cheltenham Secondary College.
VISUAL: Lexia Knight speaking, side on to the camera.
Lexia Knight: The area of surveying is really interesting. The fact that there is an aging population in surveying and they desperately need more people in that industry; it’s certainly something that I’ve been telling students and I’m really glad that they reiterated that today and so it makes me confident in the types of information that I’m giving out to students.
VISUAL: Photograph of a section of the façade of RMIT’s Leo Foster Building (220) on the Bundoora campus which is a curved flat wall building with three levels of windows and large orange tiles on the façade, on the left is a stone building and on the right is a concrete building, possibly a stairwell. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Ailsa Cowie. Who should study Nuclear Medicine?
VISUAL: Ailsa Cowie, side on to the camera, standing behind the lectern and speaking to the audience which is off screen. At the end she looks up at possibly an overhead screen which is behind her on the stage but is off screen. At the end the screen fades to black.
Ailsa Cowie: ... an interest in science with the desire to work with and care for people. All sorts of sciences come together; it’s a fantastic amalgam of all of these different interests. They have lectures by industry experts, some of whom are world renowned. There’s hands on labs involved, they get plenty of clinical experience in the workplace and it articulates with that innovative internship program that I coordinate.
VISUAL: Photograph of the façade of RMIT’s Info Corner building and Storey Hall. The camera is looking up at the façade and the ‘green brain’ awning is at the bottom of the screen in the foreground. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Alfio Raiti, Rosehill Secondary College.
VISUAL: Alfia Raiti speaking, side on to the camera.
Alfio Raiti: These career days are good for us as careers teachers because we get to listen to a whole range of different speakers. Today has been great; it’s been very informative.
VISUAL: Photograph of a courtyard on RMIT’s campus. Camera is looking through a brick archway which frames a view of some benches around a tree with a student sitting on a bench. A section of a brick building and part of a high black stone wall is behind that. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Rob Hulls. Industry Experience.
VISUAL: Rob Hulls standing on stage behind a lectern speaking to the audience which is off screen. The camera is looking at his right side.
Rob Hulls: These students are involved in a wide range of activities including undertaking research projects as well as gaining clinical experience in the associated Mental Health Legal Centre that we’ve actually re established on site, here, at RMIT ...
VISUAL: Rob Hulls standing on stage behind a lectern speaking to the audience which is off screen. The camera is in a slightly elevated position looking down on his left side.
Rob Hulls: ... and amongst other things the Mental Health Legal Centre conducts clinics as part of their Inside Access program which actually goes into the Dame Phyllis Frost women’s prison, takes instructions from women prisoners before they’re released. So a woman might go into jail for, let’s say, a drug offence or something and while she’s in jail a whole range of other legal issues build up.
VISUAL: Rob Hulls standing on stage behind a lectern speaking to the audience which is off screen. The camera is looking at his right side. At the end the screen fades to black.
Rob Hulls: There’s housing issues, there’s tenancy issues, there’s family law issues and when she comes out of jail she’s still embroiled in the justice system so this program goes into the jail, takes instructions, students go with lawyers and they get an amazing clinical education experience.
VISUAL: Alice Wu Tollis speaking, side on to the camera. Smiling and nodding at the end.
Alice Wu Tollis: I think that within a short period of time I can get a good body of information and I enjoy having all of the resources and materials available so it’s a great day to collect information from all different faculties but also get some stats, so some hard figures, statistics about employment and graduate trends. Yeah, and I’m looking forward to the tours.
VISUAL: Photograph of the façade of the RMIT’s Textile Facility (Building 513) in Brunswick; the camera is on the ground looking up at the western red cedar cladding façade of cladding blocks laid in differing directions ie horizontally and then vertically like a patchwork piece. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: Sam Falanga, Industry Experience, Visual Merchandising.
VISUAL: Sam Falanga standing on stage and holding a microphone as he speaks to the audience which is off screen. He keeps looking up at something which is behind him on the stage, probably the overhead screen but this is off screen.
Sam Falanga: This is one of my all time favourite windows; it was just such a beautiful job. It’s our main window in Cardigan Street and this was done for kikki.k.
VISUAL: Camera zooms in very slowly on a photograph of the window display designed by RMIT University Visual Merchandising students. The window is about five metres long and one metre deep. The left side of the window is of a forest of upright branches which gradually change at the right end of the window into a forest of 17 giant standing upright white pencils with the kikki.k logo on the end of each pencil. In the centre of the window is a trestle table with some of kikki.k products displayed ie magazine file, boxes etc on the table. At the top left of the screen is text which reads: Visual Merchandising. “The students have brought the kikki.k brand to life, with a unique and inspiring design aesthetic. We look forward to working with them on future projects.” Kristina Karlsson, kikki.k Founder and Creative Director. At the end screen fades to black.
Sam Falanga: So here the project was overseen by the Founder and Creative Director of kikki.k, Kristina Karlsson.
VISUAL: Sam Falanga standing on stage and holding a microphone as he speaks to the audience which is off screen. He, again, looks up at something which is behind him on the stage, probably the overhead screen but this is off screen. At the end the screen fades to black.
Sam Falanga: She was quite impressed with the window and so was I; it’s just beautiful. That’s just one part of it.
VISUAL: Photograph of the façade of RMIT’s Info Corner building and Storey Hall. The camera is looking up at the façade and the ‘green brain’ awning is at the bottom of the screen in the foreground. Centred on screen over this background image is the title: David Rosel, St Bernard’s College.
VISUAL: David Rosel speaking, side on to the camera. At the end the screen fades to black.
David Rosel: Oh I’d say come. There was 290 of us this year so I understand that’s a lot ... a big num ... a big increase in numbers. Yeah, very definitely, come along.
VISUAL: Centred on the screen on a white background: RMIT University logo. Centred under that: www.rmit.edu.au.
