MARTIN BEAN: RMIT is an amazing institution. Not only is it part of the fabric of Melbourne, but our learning and teaching and research enriches Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Barcelona and Munich.

MARTIN BEAN: I have had more than two hundred conversations about what is currently happening at RMIT, what it means to people, and what it could be in the future. So, thank you. I am blown away by the talent, the energy and the commitment to our institution.
VISUAL: Video Shot Two: Camera is panning slowly from left to right.
MARTIN BEAN: Not only are we demonstrating excellence in so many fields, from the technical and creative to the social and sustainable.
VISUAL: Video Shot One:
MARTIN BEAN: - but we are also working together to create bold new responses to real challenges faced by our partners and our communities. That is not just in Australia but in all our locations around the world.

MARTIN BEAN: Along with our proud history and our many current achievements, I sense a growing feeling of confidence and excitement about our future.

MARTIN BEAN: I am incredibly proud to be here with you, to work on the next chapter of RMIT's story. Coming back to Melbourne after thirty years of living and working around the world.
VISUAL: Video Shot Two: Camera is slowly zooming out.
MARTIN BEAN: You can touch and feel the ways that the city has changed for the better - and see the pressures of change all around us.
VISUAL: Video Shot One.
MARTIN BEAN: As somebody said to me in one of those conversations, RMIT has always been part of Melbourne - we've changed as Melbourne and its needs have changed. We need to tell those stories and think about what we contribute to the future.
VISUAL: Video Shot Two: Camera is slowly zooming out.
MARTIN BEAN: During the rest of this year, we will be working to shape RMIT's goals and actions for the next five years.
VISUAL: Video Shot One.
MARTIN BEAN: We will take decisions and make investments to make the most of what RMIT can create from the incredible mix of people, knowledge, places and connections that we currently are. I want those decisions to reflect what really matters most and to be guided by you, along with the whole of RMIT's community. So I am opening a conversation that will continue over the next six months, through many different channels and events. There will be repeated opportunities for you to join in, tell us what matters, and share your ideas. You will see the results emerging towards the end of this year, and I will be asking you to work with us to achieve even more in the future. So please, join me. Talk to your friends, your family and your co-workers. And tell us: what does RMIT mean to you?
