Louis Abasta: Diploma of IT Student
In his diploma, Louis had the exciting opportunity to work on an industry project, aiming to help a real client build a database, website and mobile app.

LOUIS VOICE OVER: You would first think about who the author is, what the title of the book is, or the genre of the book.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A lady carrying books accompanies the man, and the man is talking to the lady. Then the lady goes to a folder holder on the table, she searches through the folders and picks a violet folder. She opens the folder and searches through the files in it, and then the man point to a specific data in the folder.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: My passion is to understand how people search for information so I can create a database to help people find the information they're looking for.

TEXT ON SCREEN: Louis Abasta: Diploma of IT Student at RMIT University
LOUIS VOICE OVER: My name is Louis Peter Abasta. I'm from the Philippines, and I'm studying Diploma of Information Technology at RMIT.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The man is Louis. He keeps on walking on the sidewalk. Cyclists pass by. Louis pulls out of his pocket a smart phone. Camera focuses on his right hand that is holding the phone. Close-up shot of the phone’s contacts.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: We use databases in our everyday life when we search for a contact on our phone, being able to check when your next tram is coming.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A group of people is walking on the sidewalk. A running tram. Louis goes to a Myki card machine and loads his card. He checks the system monitor for the tram route and arrival schedule. The tram arrives and he gets his ride.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: Anytime we need to use information, it's being pulled out of a database.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A crowd is walking on the street as a tram passes by. Next on screen is a Taekwondo class. Wide angle shot of City West Taekwondo in practice session. The instructor wears a white Taekwondo uniform and a black belt. His adult students are wearing blue belts. Next the instructor is with a group of young girls, wearing yellow belts. The instructor holds the yellow belt of one of the students and explains the grading process to Louis. Louis walks with the Taekwondo instructor. He holds an iPad with his left hand.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: In the Diploma of IT, it's a requirement for us to do a project for a real-life client, which is City West Taekwondo.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The instructor leads Louis to a filing cabinet and pulls out a binder. He shows Louis the contents of the binder. Louis types in some information. Then follows a close-up shot of the Grading Application filled by the instructor. With his iPad, Louis takes pictures of the instructor as he coaches two girls.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: The client provided us with different documents, such as enrolment forms, and we had to create a database, a website, and an app to fully optimise the client's business.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Camera focuses on the lady blue belters having their practice session.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The tram passes by. Next on screen is a wide shot of a red building, Melbourne City Baths. Then Louis appears, walking by the sidewalk in front of the building. Posterior view of Louis as he keeps on walking.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Camera focuses on the top part of a building with the logo and sign of RMIT. Next on screen is three students in a Computer classroom in RMIT. One of the student is Louis as he starts working on his project with City West Taekwondo.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: One of the main aspects that I like about studying at RMIT is there's nowhere else you can get this actual experience to work for a real-life client.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Louis with his two teammates brainstorm on their project. They walk over to the glass board and one of the team writes on it with a black marker, and so does the other team member as Louis looks on. Then Louis also writes on the glass. They walk away from the glass board back to their computers.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: You learn how to communicate in a team. And it's a sense of pride when you actually get that end product.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Focuses on the title PHP6/MySQ Programming. Louis is in a room with his four teachers, one female and three males. Programming books and open laptops are on the table.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: The good thing about studying at RMIT is that the teachers they will always be there to help you, make sure that you can achieve those goals.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Louis presents his IT class project on City West Taekwondo app to a panel of four RMIT teachers.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: And to be able to say you designed, deployed, and implemented a database at the diploma level is pretty amazing.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Louis successfully completes his presentation. The panel is happy and stands in approval. One of them gives him a thumb up.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A lady in a food shop is preparing some drinks. Her black uniform reads Mamak. In focus is the façade of Mamak. Louis and his two male friends enters Mamak. In Mamak’s kitchen, bakers are preparing and grilling roti. Then a lady attendant serves food to Louis and friends.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: One of the highlights of being in Melbourne is the fact that you can have any cuisine you want at your doorstep.
AUDIO: Background instrumental music.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The three friends are having a good time and enjoying the food, drinks and the friendship.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: And I love that because I love eating food. And it allows you to create this personal connection with the culture itself. You try it and then it tastes amazing.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Melbourne’s busy street, people walking, cars on the street, and buildings in the background. Skyline view and then a shift to the marvelous Melbourne Southbank night view.
LOUIS VOICE OVER: In the future, there will be an exponential growth of data. It requires more people to understand how data works, and how they store it.
