PROFESSOR CALUM DRUMMOND SPEAKS: RMIT is taking an exciting new direction. This year we are establishing eight enabling capability platforms or as we like to call them, ECPs.

This year we are looking to appoint eight new directors for the ECPs. The ECPs are cross organisational thematic areas and they have been chosen on the basis of four criteria: critical mass on a national and global scale.
Quality, there is no point in the university investing in areas where we have a lot of people but the quality of the people is low.
Differentiation, we also want to be clearly operating in areas where we are differentiated from others in the national and global innovation systems.
And fourth, and most important, is relevancy, or the deployability of the capability. We want to benefit others in the national innovation system in particular. We want to derive value for others, whether that is economic, societal or environmental value.
PROFESSOR CALUM DRUMMOND SPEAKS: We are looking for ECP directors that are inspirational leaders and have good people skills because this role is all about facilitating the researchers within RMIT and the research that they do with our partners.

PROFESSOR CALUM DRUMMOND SPEAKS: The ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally and excite those people that will be very important. We encourage people to apply for those positions and become part of this exciting growth in our research activity.
