TEXT ON SCREEN: Workforce & Organisational Capacity - What kind of workers and skills are we helping to prepare, and what kind of organisation do we need to be?
VISUAL: Tom Bentley appears on screen. He is speaking to an audience.
AUDIO: How do we support our students to become the right kinds of workers? What do they need in order to shape their own lives and careers?
VISUAL: Slide appears and reads "By 2025, 31% of the workforce will be under 30, with 50% holding a University degree."
AUDIO: How do we develop our own workforce and what's the challenge therefore for our institutional capability?
So this says that 70% of young people intend to go to university which is a challenging fact because in Australia 70% of them are not going to university or at least not to get to higher education by the time they are 25.
VISUAL: Slide appears showing demographics of young people who intend to go to University, Get a job, Travel or get an apprenticeship.
AUDIO: It's important to recognise that the inequalities that we know and are familiar with are still huge factors in determining which of them will enrol in university and which of them will complete.
VISUAL: Slide appears showing socio economic background's influence on work and learning before the age of 24.
AUDIO: How do we think about how to build career pathways and good qualifications and fit for purpose curriculum for every one of those learners and every one of those industry clusters?
VISUAL: Slide appears illustrating entry into full time work pathways.
VISUAL: Slide reads "How can we? Equip all our graduates with enterprise skills, connections and resilience? Design good curriculum and career pathways in all sectors? Upskill and empower a casualised and fluid workforce?
AUDIO: How to make flexibility a good thing for every employee and not just for the balance sheet of a given institution;
VISUAL: Slide appears and shows how 96% of companies are planning organisation redesign in the near future, but many don't feel they are agile/able to re-skill employees for new roles.
AUDIO: how to make sure that if we're going to work in a more fluid, more contingent and more part-time, more flexible environment, which more and more workers do want, how to make sure that leadership preparation, career development, services, training and just the deployment of our programs and our infrastructure still work for everyone?
VISUAL: Slide shows how traditional organisation hierarchies are being replaced by networks.
ADUIO: How do we grow stronger teams? How do we operate an innovate more effectively through clouds and through collaborative precincts?
