Wominjeka everyone and welcome to this month's DSC update. It's hard to believe we are already in March and teaching has officially started across our schools.
We've had a particular unique start to the year, of course, with some of our wonderful international students held up due to travel bans. But we're under way now. We've worked tremendously hard to work through how we best support our impacted students to continue their studies with us. From me, personally, thank you all so much for your insights, your patience and your care for our students and each other over this time. It has been difficult, but we are indeed a wonderful team.
In other news, you may have heard of RMIT Next. As we enter the fifth year of our Ready for Life and Work Strategy, it's time to start the next conversation about what RMIT's future should be. Your help is needed to co-create the next five-year strategy for our university. There's more information on RMIT Next in this newsletter, including how to join the conversation. I can't encourage you enough to get involved. Your expert input is essential to us realising our full potential. So, make sure you join in the conversation.
Speaking of joining in, don't miss Generation Equality, an RMIT International Women's Day event. It's coming up soon on Friday, 6th of March. Again, there is more information on the event below, including registration details. And RMIT is a university that genuinely supports equality between genders. There is a great list of speakers, including our VC Martin Bean. He will be discussing the trends, challenges and opportunities we face to create a new vision for the future. I really look forward to seeing some of you there.
So, you might have noticed that I'm talking to you from RMIT's fascinating Design Archives.
VISUALS: Two women stand alongside desks and chairs talking to each other. The camera pans down and the woman on the left is wearing disposable gloves while showing a yellow dress laid out on top of wrappings.
The Design Archives actively collect material relating to Melbourne design from the 20th century onwards.
VISUALS: The camera pans down to show Tania standing in front of a Design Archives wall display.
I am here, because the Archives are playing a big part in Melbourne design week.
VISUALS: A model is wearing a red dress and fanning out the pleated skirt section. She is standing in front of a white backdrop with the text "#VAMFF" printed repeatedly across the middle section.
TEXT ON SCREEN: Amanda Nichol's graduate project replica. Photo Lucas Dawson Photography.
VISUALS: The same model is then shown seated while peeking out from behind a blue velvet curtain. She is wearing a yellow dress with orange trim.
TEXT ON SCREEN: Benjamin Garg is one of the graduates handpicked to display their work in the National Graduate Showcase.
And also, the Virgin Australian Melbourne Fashion Festival events, which are happening this month.
VISUALS: Tania is standing in front of a Design Archives wall display.
We have great partnerships with these events and feature heavily on their programs, shining a light on our world-class learning and teaching and research. Again, more information in the newsletter below. But I encourage you to try and get to some of these events, if you can. And if you haven't already, try and visit the Design Archives too.
So, that's all for this month's update. I'll see you next time, all the best everyone. And look out for me on Yammer from time to time.
VISUALS: The RMIT pixel slides across the screen and reveals the RMIT University logo.
