SPEAKER 1: Our job is to connect, listen, and learn. Connecting to community and a sense of place that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people are part of the strong fabric that makes a shared future here at RMIT.

SPEAKER 1: Two-way relationship. Learning is a vessel for not only community but RMIT. Training community to be the next leaders in education will show the respect and trust in a shared future.

SPEAKER 2: Encouraging and supporting students to become leaders within RMIT and the wider community, through every year of their study and beyond. Engaging in cultural programmes, mentoring, career and graduate opportunities, global experiences, and leadership training. Ngarara Willim Leadership Group will engage in lead development and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students will gain leadership skills that will last with them throughout their academic and life journey.

SPEAKER 3: Ngarara Willim is to provide quality accommodation where students and families feel assured that they are well looked after and are supported. Student health and wellbeing is a priority amongst key stakeholders, with early intervention mechanisms in place to support students if required. Students to have seamless access to individualised support and are well connected with appropriate key service areas that they are likely to access. Relationship driven practise with individual staff, nurtured and customised to the student's needs and experience, service provisions engaged at the right time, for positive results, retention, and completion.

SPEAKER 3: Programme staff to become partners in teaching, learning, and support. Consistent mentorship and coaching as a new approach to servicing students. Removing barriers to access and their progression. Connection to opportunities that are relevant to study and employment outcomes.

SPEAKER 4: We'd love to see RMIT continuing to mature into becoming a university that is known nationally and internationally for the authentic and meaningful, respect based relationships that we have with First Nations People and communities.
TEXT ON SCREEN: Getting the basics right. Funding, security, strategy (self determination and sovereignty as a foundational value), broadly recognised employer and uni of choice. I have all the support I need. Things are easier. I feel strongly grounded in my identity.
SPEAKER 5: Making sure that the policy is set in line with the regulations or the legal obligations that RMIT has signed up to, and that we have the processes and systems embedded, so that we have sustainable reconciliation, which is what we're seeking. Getting the basics right means when the passionate people move on, RMIT has a shared future enshrined in its DNA.

SPEAKER 5: For us relationships are the key to achieving self-determination for First Peoples at RMIT. These relationships are the basis for the shared future we see for the community of RMIT.

SPEAKER 5: Building the trust of RMIT's community to trust us in the next stage of our relationship. Trust from us is about being thoughtful, patient, and considerate on your Indigenous journey, and in turn we trust you to be there to support our journey of self-determination.

SPEAKER 6: All students should experience proactive, coordinated, and nurturing interactions and services in every part of RMIT University. By providing harmonious processes in a transparent responsive environment, from the first point of contact through to becoming an alumni.

SPEAKER 7: It's critically important because it fees into what's metrics, drives our behaviour in terms of achieving our reconciliation journey. I don't think it's fanciful to suggest that RMIT's RAP and the work done by the RMIT community as a result of that, will result in RMIT becoming an employer of choice for Indigenous scholars, academics, and professional staff. Additionally, I think that it will lead to RMIT being a higher education employer of choice for Indigenous students across the nation.
