Dr Juan Molero speaking: in research in insulin interaction in obesity and diabetes.
Visual: Dr Juan Molero in a laboratory using lab equipment.
Dr Juan Molero speaking: So specifically in my research I believe that one of the problems why there is no permanent cure for or treatment for obesity and diabetes is that it's based on the complexity of insulin resistance and how there are different origins, different causes why this disorder occurs.

Dr Juan Molero speaking: So one of the aims of my research
Visual: Two men observing data in a book.
Dr Juan Molero speaking: and hopefully one of the outcomes my research
Visual: Shot of Dr Juan Molero looking down at something with another man.
Dr Juan Molero speaking: is to be able to classify

Dr Juan Molero speaking: the different types of this is insulin resistance so actually you

Dr Juan Molero speaking: could try to design personalised medicine.
Visual: Dr Juan Molero wearing a lab coat, walks over to the man and the microscope..
Dr Juan Molero speaking: You can develop different therapeutics for each specific type of insulin resistance. So then,

Dr Juan Molero speaking: when you have a patient, you can give them exactly the treatment that they would need.

Dr Juan Molero speaking: RMIT has been very active in creating a research environment that has established scientists,

Dr Juan Molero speaking: leaders, with new talents.

Dr Juan Molero speaking: I came to RMIT because

Dr Juan Molero speaking: I think that RMIT was the perfect balance in which you can on one hand undertake your basic research
