MBA (Executive) | Amanda Rawstron’s story

Ms Amanda Rawstron (Graduate, MBA (Executive), RMIT University): Sometimes a simple journey from A to B is amazingly intricate and fascinating. There’s always going to be unforeseen challenges. You never know what’s next.

Ms Amanda Rawstron: My name is Amanda Rawstron. I’m the General Manager of Business Development and Solution Design at Kings Transport. I studied at RMIT. I did an MBA and also an undergraduate in Transport and Logistics.
VISUAL: Black sedan is seen driving around a corner on a country road. Camera angle changes from outside to inside the vehicle, showing the view from the front seat. The view then changes to the road-side again, showing the underside of the car as it moves forward. Shot from ground level, Ms Rawstron and the boys walk through bush land. They follow a walking trail through the forest. The trio stop for a break, and Ms Rawstron refers to her tablet computer, showing the boys their location on the GPS system. The camera moves to a close-up of Ms Rawstron as she views the tablet screen. The shot changes to a close up of the map on the tablet, Ms Rawstron’s finger pointing to their current location. Ms Amanda Rawstron: The networks that I developed during my studies, and the knowledge that I took from the courses that I studied, set me up for my career. The things like the negotiation skills, project management, strategy development, strategy implementation. I’m a very organised person. I like structure. I like scheduled meetings, I like dashboards, key performance indicators, and graphs, timelines and milestones and deliverables. Its very much logistics.
VISUAL: The camera follows the trio as they walk up to the edge of a wooden platform. The angle changes to film the group from the other side of the platform, below the platform level. The camera angle switches again and films from behind Ms Rawstron, who turns to face the camera. A text overlay appears in the centre-left of the screen features a solid white line, with “Be true to you” underneath.

Ms Amanda Rawstron: I’m very much a planner. Each day I, I have a list. I know exactly what I’m doing. I’ve been set up with a career that I’ll do for the rest of my life.
