Ms Marta Kopp (Graduate, Bachelor of Business (Marketing), RMIT University): I moved here from Poland four years ago, and I remember I was sitting with some of my friends of my friends, and, I just didn’t understand a thing. I was like ‘Are they even speaking English?’ and then just, as you go along you just get to the point where it just becomes second nature, and you don’t even have to think about it.

Marta Kopp: I did create very meaningful relationships with my lecturers, and my teachers, from whom I got great help throughout my degree. And they helped me get to where I am now.

Marta Kopp: The whole Building 80 is great. The lecture rooms, the study rooms, there’s space for everyone to meet up. And even if you don’t want to study, you’ve still got a space to just hang out with your friends and have a lunch break, and you know, pretend that you’re studying while you’re talking about rubbish. And everyone wants to be there, and wants to be a part of the community.

Marta Kopp:
My degree definitely has helped me to get my position. It would not be possible for me to be where I am right now, without the degree from RMIT. Especially because RMIT is seen as a very prestigious university. So I’ve seen you all as, as sort of a strategy choice. Where I knew that having RMIT on my resume for the future, I would definitely benefit me. Some of the volunteer work that I was part of, included participation during the fashion shows for Breast Cancer Foundation, as well as replantation of the Westgate Park.

I personally believe that it is extremely important to be a part of a community and contribute as much as we can and I would like to think of myself, that in fifty years I’m going to say to myself ‘You know what. You did a pretty good job’.
