Charissa Gong: Translating and Interpreting Graduate | RMIT University
Charissa Gong is one of our many alumni around the world. After graduating from RMIT with two degrees in translating and interpreting, she works as a Sales and Marketing Manager back home in China.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: I think English is like a tool. It helped me to open the world in front of me.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: It gave me lots of chance to get in touch with new things and meet new friends. It's not just a language or something that you can rely on to build your career.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: Currently, I'm focusing on both online marketing and offline marketing.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: When I was studying at RMIT, I learned how to build up a workflow and how to prioritize things and then be efficient. Those are three important things I'm implementing on my current job now.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: I think the best way to learn English is that you live in an English-speaking country.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: Sometimes RMIT will throw a party to get all the alumni get together. You get to know people from different industries in China, build up connections, maybe you can even find job opportunities.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: To me, I think life is about creating your own path rather than following others' path.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: After a year of study at RMIT, I got Professional Interpreter Certificate from NAATI.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: And after my graduation, I got a job at Melbourne Magistrates' Court.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: It is evening and Charissa enters a bar. Wide shot of the bar. The bartender is shaking a cocktail shaker and pours the liquid on a cocktail glass and garnishes it. Charissa joins her client at the bar and both enjoys their drinks.
CHARISSA VOICE OVER: Many of my clients are from overseas background.

CHARISSA VOICE OVER: With this international exposure that I had for the past four years, it's easy for me to connect with them, communicate with them, and build a relationship with them.
