I would say that inclusion means to me a space in an organisation, especially in an RMIT context, that is welcoming and having access.
As a student I was like, oh, this seems like a standard. There's a queer lounge. There are queer events. I can access all these resources on campus. There's an Equitable Learning Service, all these things.
And then, as I moved into being a staff member and participating in the DGSS Working Group, I went, oh, there is a lot of staff power behind this. I also saw it during the Plebiscite. RMIT released these rainbow lanyards for staff. Going into classes and seeing staff wearing them, I knew automatically that I wasn't going to feel unsafe, I wasn't going to be unwelcome. So, that was a really highly visible, visual representation of acceptance and inclusion at RMIT.
I found that honesty and emotional connection to the Yes campaign from our Vice-Chancellor surprising and the way that he constantly talks about it as something he's viewed as a victory for himself. I find that very heart warming.
