Text on screen: here are some simple steps to follow to ensure your plants are successful

Text on screen: Before getting started it’s important to think about what plant is right for you. Each plant has its own unique requirements so it’s good to be aware of what will suit your environment. This information should be on the packet of your seed or can eb found on gardening websites

Text on screen: Once you’ve picked your seed it is time to plant it.

Text on screen: We used biodegradable pots. They are easily transportable prevent damage caused by repotting and of course limit the use of plastic. But you can use anything as long as it has a drainage hole

Text on screen: Start by filling the bottom of the pots with soil. It is best to use a seed starting mix it is sterilised to prevent diseases

Text on screen: Place seeds on the soil. We usually put 2-3 seeds per pot as sometimes the seeds just don’t take
Visual: Person holding cardboard pot filled with soil and sifting soil over the top.
Text on screen: As the seeding mix is still not fine enough for the fragile shoots to push through, using a kitchen sieve, sieve your soil over the top of seeds (make sure you wash it after). Your seed packet should tell you how much soil to place over the top but a good rule of thumb is twice the diameter of the seed itself

Text on screen: Gently water over the top or if your seeds are very tiny, use a spray bottle to moisten the soil

Text on screen: And you’re done!

Text on screen: Seeds should be kept moist but not wet. Usually a good water every 1-2 days does the trick, or if your top layer is looking dry. Seeds should be kept sheltered from the elements and generally with plenty of sunlight. A window sill is perfect or you can be really fancy and use a UV light

Text on screen: Watching your seeds spring out of the ground and grow bigger and bigger is so satisfying. Happy planting! Stay tuned for how to report your seedlings and propagate them
