Tull Suwannakit is a Master of Fine Art graduate. He challenged himself to take his art practice to the next level by using new techniques.

SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: To me, art itself is the freedom to express, to explore.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The man walks towards CHESTERFIELD HOMESTEAD Café. Next on screen is a sheep. Then the man is seen sitting on the ground with his sketch book, sketching the deer which is lying right in front of him.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: A lot of inspirations come from the everyday life that I like to transform into a more imaginative and fun storyline.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The man touches and caresses his model deer with his right hand which is also holding his sketch pencil.

VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Focus on the face of the man.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: My name is Tull Suwannakit. I originally came from Thailand.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The man is Tull Suwannakit. He finishes his sketch of the deer, and closes his sketch book.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: I studied Master of Fine Art at RMIT.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit enters his art studio, and lights his table lamp. Various art works of animal characters are either pinned or hanged on the wall of his work studio. Next on screen are different animal characters on the illustrative covers of children’s books.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: My children's books tend to evolve around animal characters that become a part of the society.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit works on his sketch of a dog, and colours it.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: Studying at RMIT, the professors are constantly challenging you to move beyond your comfort zone and to find new alternatives, new techniques.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: He continues to work on his sketch.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: It really expands my art practice to the next level, I would say.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: He washes his painting brush in a glass of water and continues to colour his sketch.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: So, my latest book is a collaboration between me, as an illustrator, and Sandy Fussell, an acclaimed author.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit continues to colour.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: It's called 'Sad, the Dog', a picture book about a dog that has no name.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: A little boy is inside a children’s book shop, and picks a book entitled, ‘Sad the Dog’. Then Suwannakit walks in carrying a frame stand on his right hand and enters the children’s book shop. He sits with the children and reads to them the book, ‘Sad the Dog’.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: With my children's books, I wanted the readers to be a part of the narrative, to become one of the characters or the narrator of the story.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Individuals crossing the Melbourne footbridge, with the Yarra River underneath, and with tall buildings across the footbridge. Next on screen, Suwannakit is sketching again. With his left hand, he sketches the silhoutte of a lady.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: In Melbourne, I think art itself is part of your everyday life.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: He continues to sketch as he sits in front of the famous Melbourne sculpture at Southbank by the Yarra.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: You can see art that's bleeding out into the streets.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit looks towards the river where a small bird is seen flying, and then he walks by the river park.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: To me life is about challenges, to just be true to what you are capable of.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: People walking on Flinders Street in Melbourne. Next on screen is the signage MALVERN School of Art. Then Suwannakit enters the children’s book shop where children’s books are on display. Next on screen is Tull’s art studio and art school, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: What I'm doing at the moment is writing and illustrating children's books, as well as being an art instructor at my art school.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit welcomes very excited children to his Art school and conducts art workshop with these children.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: Studying at RMIT provided me the opportunity to share my passion in art with other people.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: The children are enjoying their art workshop and each of them is busy sketching, and colouring their sketches.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: What I enjoy teaching art to children - their ideas spark almost endlessly, and I think that imagination is important to freely express the ideas beyond the scope of school curriculum.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit is still with the children and continues to coach each of the children.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: As a facilitator, you're trying to capture that ideas and to translate it into a piece of paper.
VISUAL DESCRIPTION: Suwannakit is standing at the back of the children who are also standing and these children proudly show their finished products, their individual art works and coloured sketches.
SUWANNAKIT VOICE OVER: Well, my biggest dream is to be able to do what I do.
