First year student wins her airfare to Melbourne
Janice Eng has won the first "Win your airfare" competition run by RMIT and IDP Education.

Janice, who is commencing her first year of Bachelor of Business (Accountancy), will receive reimbursement from RMIT for her airfare to Melbourne.
“Winning this competition is very exciting for me. I always wanted to study in Melbourne. Both my sisters study in Melbourne - one at Monash and the other at RMIT. I wanted to study at RMIT because it has a strong reputation for accounting and business. Plus it is in the centre of the city and close to everything,” Eng said.
Janice won the competition after her submission to “Why is RMIT your dream university?” was selected as the best entry by the judging panel.
Rongyu Li, Executive Director International, commented, “The quality of the competition entries was very high and it was a difficult decision to select one winner. We chose Janice’s response as it highlighted her enthusiasm for studying at RMIT.”
While the 17-year-old from Malaysia is excited about her prize, she says her parents were even more excited than she was.
“My mum was so happy when I told her. She messaged all my aunties and they called me to say congratulations. I think they were much more excited about my competition win than they were with my exam results!
“The staff at IDP Melbourne took so much time and walked through the application process with mum and me. In fact, if they hadn’t reminded me, I wouldn’t have submitted my entry in time. I am really thankful for all their help.”
RMIT’s International Recruitment and Mobility Office ran the competition in partnership with IDP Education.
