Experienced business school leader joins RMIT Vietnam
Experienced business school leader and leadership researcher Professor Raymond Gordon has been appointed Head of the Centre of Commerce and Management at RMIT Vietnam.
Professor Gordon said he was thrilled to take up the opportunity to lead RMIT Vietnam University's commerce and management higher education hub.
"It's a centre with outstanding teaching staff across its programs and I'm looking forward to working with the team to continue the good work," he said.
"Our focus remains on the student experience and innovative ways to enhance this experience.
"Academic staff, professional staff and student teams are working together to develop new and exciting learning experiences, which include the use of education technologies, blended learning and work integrated learning initiatives.
"We're also ensuring our research is focused, practical, benefits Vietnam and further develops the relationship between Vietnam and Australia."
The centre’s student-focused approach seeks to maximise student experience in the field and demonstrate the university’s overarching commitment to quality across its facilities and resources.
"We're introducing 'assurance of learning' processes, which is about ensuring the quality of the centre's graduates," he said.
"It involves an ongoing commitment to measuring and monitoring our teaching and research performance as well as the effectiveness of the academic systems we have in place."
Prior to joining RMIT Vietnam, Professor Gordon was Deputy Dean within the Faculty of Business at Bond University in Australia.
During his seven years at Bond, Professor Gordon also held the positions of Head of the Bond Business School and the Associate Dean of Research, and led Bond's successful bid for business school accreditation from international accrediting bodies such as AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
Professor Gordon has received numerous teaching and research awards including being nominated for the William H Newman Award in the All-Academy Awards by the American Academy of Management as well as best paper awards by the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management.
He has an additional 12 years’ experience at other Australian universities including University of Technology Sydney, University of Newcastle, and University of Western Sydney.
He has also held visiting professor positions at New Mexico State University and Copenhagen Business School.
Prior to his career as an academic, Professor Gordon worked in the computer and information technology industry at a senior management level in Australia, the UK, USA and throughout Asia.
