The winner of RMIT International’s second “Win Your Airfare” competition is Master of Commerce student Siew Jo Tan.
An international student from Malaysia, Tan commenced her studies at RMIT’s city campus in Semester 2 2015. Tan will receive reimbursement from RMIT for her airfare to Melbourne. She plans on buying a flight back home to Malaysia with the prize money to see her family and friends.
RMIT’s International Recruitment and Mobility Office ran the competition in partnership with IDP Education.
Tan said, “A big thanks to IDP - their counsellor told me about the competition and that’s why I entered it. They helped me with my visa application and told me about everything I needed to know. I was prepared thanks to IDP.”
“I am thrilled about my win. There are still times when I cannot believe it - because I have never won anything! This is the first time for me and it’s a great feeling. I am really happy to be at RMIT.
“I did my undergraduate studies at a different university in Melbourne. But for my postgrad, I wanted to study and live in the city. RMIT’s location is very convenient, especially in terms of food and transport. I just walk to uni now!”
Rongyu Li, Executive Director International, commented, “The quality of the competition entries was very high and it was a difficult decision to select one winner. Tan’s entry highlighted her enthusiasm for studying at RMIT.”
Tan wants to live and work in Melbourne after graduation. She aims to improve her English, develop professional skills in Commerce and expand her network to get a good job.
