RMIT wishes to correct the international student revenue figures published by Nine Entertainment Co newspapers (Sun Herald and Sunday Age) and syndicated online on Sunday 25 August.
Nine Entertainment Co reported that the revenue derived from international students studying at RMIT’s campuses in Australia accounted for 40% of the University’s total revenue.
The revenue derived from international students studying at RMIT’s campuses in Australia in 2018 accounted for 33% of the University’s total revenue, not 40% as published.
All students studying at RMIT’s international campuses are noted in the University’s 2018 annual report as ‘fee paying offshore overseas students’, while international students studying at RMIT’s Australian campuses are noted as ‘fee paying onshore overseas students’.
Bundling these two figures together to represent revenue from international students studying in Australia is incorrect.
Attempts to have the figures corrected by Nine Entertainment Co after publication have been unsuccessful.
